The invasion

In a lockdown, we had to write a story on pobble and I found the invasion and the picture looked really cool so I wrote about it enjoy.

The invasion

Present-day.

I could hear the war horn blast and all the men tense. I readied my spare as the giant monsters advanced towards us. They were huge, their bodies taller than the mountain we were standing on. I could feel sweat start to form on my forehead and the terror that hung off my men's faces I felt defeated as if we had already lost this fight. The giant's loud thumping feet could be heard throughout the entire valley. Their walk was a mile long with the sound of trees snapping, getting closer and closer. We all looked up towards the floating beast, amazed to see this sight while being terrified at the same time. The archers readied their bows aiming at the giants ¨hold, hold, hold fire”?.

1 month earlier

Awoken suddenly from a shake on the shoulder by my friend Shay. He was holding a lantern in his left hand and he was wearing his cloak. I looked at him, my eyes still adjusting to the light. It took everything I had not to pull the covers back over me but braving the cold would be well worth the look he was giving me. I grabbed my cloak heading out and shoved my hands into my cloak as I left. The morning was cold and the footpaths were covered with a thick layer of snow. The village was asleep with lanterns making the village seem alive. 

He led me down the pathway towards the valley. The path was barely seeable but he seemed to know where he was going. 

It was about 5 minutes until we had arrived and I gasped when I saw it. I knew straight away why he had brought  me to this place.. There was a body lying against a hill nearby.  His face was monstrous, his body was made entirely out of iron. I could hear Shay praying to god for whatever this creature was, it would be the only one.

I approached the giant's body, edging forward alert for anything that might happen. I put my hand on the giant's foot. Wondering where this beast could have come from. His body was lifeless and dead but the size of this beast's body was still scaring me. ¨How did you find this¨

¨I was going for a walk when I saw its body.¨ Let's keep this between me and you okay Shay¨ ¨okay¨. We were just about to walk back when suddenly we started hearing screams. We looked up and saw smoke slithering across the skies.

We raced up the path towards the village without stopping for a breather. When we saw our village. The giant we had just seen had been with others. We could see families running out of their homes, some sobbing and others holding their children closely. Houses were either destroyed or lit up in flames.

 I could see a small arm in the rubble of a destroyed house.

The soldiers had gathered a small party of warriors to attack. One of the soldiers saw where I was and rushed over towards me. His entire body was shaking with fear. ¨Where have you been commander? ¨We thought you had died in the fire¨. ¨Shey woke me up to show me something¨. What was it? ¨It was one of the giant's bodies¨. ¨It was down by the valley laid against one of the hills¨. ¨ What the heck do you think they are commander¨ giants, massive giants.

¨Their bodies are made entirely out of iron and they are taller than mountains¨. ¨How the heck can they even move? ¨Their bodies are out of iron¨. ¨They must be demons that what the soldiers think¨. ¨A soldier said he thought he saw something flying in the sky too¨. ¨But we haven't seen anything yet  ̈.¨ What do you want us to do? ¨Retreat we can't fight them now as the soldiers are depleted and we still don't know how many wounded we have and we don't have a strategy to attack¨. Tell the soldiers to retreat towards the hills and get as many wounded as you can. I will tell the villagers that are left to grab what they can to go towards the hills. Okay. I saw him scrabble towards them and tell them the order. Their Fearful eyes all turned my way. Then they all took off towards the homes looking for the wounded, lifting them on their shoulders, others grabbing the medics. I raced towards houses telling families to spread the message, grab food and blankets and some lanterns, and head towards the hills. They nodded slowly while still sobbing.

I headed towards the hills with the wounded lantern in my hand lighting the sad faces of the crying families that surrounded me. I could hear the voices of mothers hushing their babies when they screamed and soft prayers.

I could see the giants rampaging across the village destroying everything that dared stand in their way. We managed to plant 10 tents down; they were all full with the wounded. Each tent could fit 20 people inside. but there weren't enough there were still wounded, each spread out in the tents. As I came into one of the tents of the wounded 2 medics came up to me. We don't have enough supplies for the wounded and there isn't enough room. We need more tents and supplies.

I closed my eyes not knowing what I should do. We must sound the alarm to tell our allied nations we are under attack. And that we need reinforcements, supplies, and soldiers. No, we don't have enough men, and it's too risky we can't risk losing more men. Also, the signal is by the giants that our men will be killed instantly and the healing tent has been destroyed. It's better than letting our men die. Are you suggesting I send more men out there to die? no, I suggest you try to gather some men and try to signal them before there's more blood on your hand.  I signed loudly annoyed but  I knew she was right, grabbing a small party of 5 soldiers

I started towards the signal making haste to get there while keeping my eye on the giants as we walked I could see my men were having second thoughts about coming I could blame them if they ran off back up the hill but I had to light the signal for my men Even if it was the last thing I do. We could see the rubble of the old houses that once stood there, my soldier's eyes saddening from the horrid memory. The signal was getting closer and closer. My legs were no longer supporting my body. I felt wobbly. I just wanted the memory of the destruction to go away. I could still hear the screams of the families. screaming and screaming

in my head. We got to the stairs relieved nothing bad had happened slowly walking up the oak plank steps. The stairs felt like forever but we finally reached the top. We reached the signal grabbing my flint and steel. After 6 tries a flame appeared lighting the signal. We all high-fived each other. Then we saw the giants turn around and look at us. I cursed under my breath as they started towards us. We ran down the stairs racing towards the mountain They were gaining. We weren't fast enough, we were going to be destroyed and we would lead them to the others. I told my men to run away from the mountain or our families would be found but they didn't listen. I knew running there might stall them but all the injured would die. the giants were right behind us we were so close We all, most made it one of the soldiers was in front Running his heart out but I tried to warn him that there was a rock in front but he couldn't hear so he ran and tripped and fell I looked back knowing he was dead we were at the bottom of the mountain going up when I saw the leg crush the fallen soldier he was gone forever. We made it to the top telling everyone to go hide run leave Everyone panicked and gathered their children Families rushed to the woods others down the other side of the hill. I saw the giants trying to get up. When they did they shook the mountain I tripped and hit my head on a rock. I looked around my sight and my last thought was sorry.

At the beach

 I started this poem a couple days ago we had to make one about the beach and this is my one.

Refugee

 For this past term, we have started reading a book called refugee It was about three kids how they are trying to escape their countries. We had a task that we had to put on a  crisis that happen in the story such as the st Louise. And the refugee crisis etc.

The journey

This is a poem we had to create about a school journal called kaahuipani and this is my poem.

The past can not determine the future.

Ūnderneath you may be sad but It's worse when Someone close dies don't be like rain.

Rain will always fall but they will be forgotten but they who have fallen will always be remembered.

Anger, let it flow out, and let your emotions free and open up.

No one is gone forever; they will always have a place in your heart.

Ghost of the past is here to love and be remembered.

With the survivors of the brutal plague.

A new home was found for the survivors.

Everyone was saved and feed from the long journey.

When they left their village it was the only way.

This is a quick write that I wrote during writing time.

 The floorboards screamed with protest as I ran towards the stairs. I could still hear his voice in my head whispering my name. The knife in his hand sticky with blood scraping the walls leaving bloody marks everywhere. His feet thumped down the stairs slowly his eyes were like vipers looking everywhere trying to locate where I was. I slowly sneaked out of the room then ran to the garage it was open filled with light I continued But I then stoped there he was in front of me.

Math word problems

 Walt: Finish the slide given.

This week for maths I finished this math slide.                                                                                                    I learned how to finished the slide that was given that were hard but still fun to do.                                   I enjoyed doing the times tables.                                                                                                                             I found it challenging to finish them all.                                                                                                 Maybe next time I could try being faster.

This week for maths I created some math word problems.                                                                                 I learned how to make cool problems that were hard but still fun to do.                                                         I enjoyed finding backgrounds.                                                                                                                             I found it challenging to write all 4 math word problems.                                                                                 Maybe next time I could try making the problems a little harder.

The Murder

WALT: Write 110 words in 10 minutes.                                                       

It was a pitch-black night Anna was home alone once again left with only her pet dog Patric. When suddenly she heard a strange noise like drip drip drip. Slowly she climbed out of bed to see what it was she checked the inside taps it wasn't them. So she checked outside and saw that it was the hose so she turned it off and hopped back in bed. Before getting a friendly lick on the hand from Patric. Then she heard the dripping sound again so she hopped out of her bed to see where it was coming from this time. It was in the bathroom so she turned it off. When suddenly she saw someone so slowly she turned around but when she looked no one was there so she forgot that thought and went back to sleep. She then stuck her hand under the bed and got another friendly lick from Patric. When she heard the dripping noise once again so angrily she hopped out of bed to see what it was this time. It was the kitchen tap so she got a drink then when she was ready to leave she realized the biggest knife in the house was gone. Quickly she ran back up into her room and jumped into her bed. Then she stuck her hand under her bed and got another friendly lick from Patric. When she heard some more dripping noises. Except the noise was really close actually, it was in her wardrobe so silently but quickly Anna walks up to the wardrobe then she opened it. In there was Patric her dog on a hanger blood all over him with a note saying humans can lick too.

To be continued in next week's series the murder part 2.                         I learned how to write 110 words in 10 minutes.                                                                                                  I enjoyed making up this fun and scary story.                                                                                                      I found it challenging to try make the story creepy.                                                                                       Next time I will improve by making the story a bit longer.

Math word problems

WALT: Create our own math word problems.

This week for maths we had to make our own math word problems.

What I thought was challenging was trying to come up with hard problems.

What I enjoyed about the task was that it was really easy to find the backgrounds.                                          

 I think I did good problems. Ff maybe I could make 4 slides instead of 3.

The nugget vz burger wars

 Walt: Write 110 words in 10 minutes.                                                                                                                It was another hot day on nugget island officer Gary and officer Barry was at their friend's house officer Harry. They were lying in the hot spa pool filled with hot chili sauce.   When they suddenly heard a loud bang. At first, they thought it was nothing until a 5 huge mince patty fell from the sky and squished officer Harry officer  Lary and officer Harry's dog. As soon as Gary and Barry heard another bang they climbed out of the spa pool and went and got their weapons. They were ready for war They arrive on the beach with many other officers who had machine guns bazookas and 10 tanks. WE attacked first at our enemy who was the big macs had snipers and catapult.s The person who was leading them was Latoya in her hands she had a Gatling gun. Gary fired a bazooka at them and so did everyone else and then 6 burgers got aioli splatted all over them. And killed all 6 of them. Latoya was mad she got her Gatling gun ready then she fired. She hit 20 nuggets which got killed.   She then reloaded her gun again with salt. She got ready and fired.

Cyris' math word problems

National anthem

On Monday this week when we went to school we got to sing the national anthem. It was really fun to sing because we had to vs each group.  It was a hard challenge though because we were really good at singing. 

In my opinion, I think our side did a great job.

I think I sang perfectly. Maybe next time I could try to sing a little louder.

The African Unicorn

 Walt: Write down what we have learned about the article.

Today I learned about the African Unicorn. The okapi (Okapia johnstoni) is native to the Ituri rain forest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. About 10,000 to 20,000 okapis living there. Though the okapi looks like some kind of horse, it’s a relative of the giraffe—the only one. Like the giraffe, the okapi has two ossicones—bony outgrowths covered in the skin—on its head. It also has a long, dark, prehensile tongue similar to a giraffe’s. Prehensility is the ability of an appendage or an organ to grasp or hold. The okapi stretches its 46-centimeter (18-inch) tongue to clean its ears and eyelids and to strip buds and leaves from trees. I also learned that After the birth, mother and calf were left alone to bond. Any disturbance could have frightened Kweli, prompting her to reject the calf. A newborn okapi can stand within 20 minutes and nurse within an hour. Four to eight weeks go by, however, before it defecates. In the wild, delayed defecation is a natural defense, limiting the amount of scent that could attract predators to a calf while its mother forages (looks for food). An okapi mother leaves her calf undefended for hours, returning only for short periods to nurse it. Mother and calf spend relatively little time together. 

    

I think I stuck some interesting facts in my writing above. Maybe I could try making the sentence smaller.

Niue language week

 Walt: Speak the Niuean language.

Today me and my class got taught by our teacher to speak some Niuean language. It was really fun because then we all got to learn some words in Niue. Here are some words that we learned. Fakaalofa atu means hi/hello  Fakaalofa lahi atu kia koe means hello/Greetings to one.

I think I pronounced the Niuean words terrifically. Maybe next time I could try learning them faster. 

Math word problems

 Walt: Solve the math word problems on the slides below.

Today for maths our teacher ms Peters made a slide with some math word problems.  The first thing we had to do was make a copy. The second thing, we had to do was read the problems. The last thing we had to do was answering the equation working out and answer.

Fb I think I answered my questions perfectly. Ff I think I could try finding different ways to solve the problems.

 Walt: Create our own Maths word problems. This week for maths we had to make a copy of some math word problems. We then had to read the problem figure out the equation then the working out and answer. Fb I think I did perfectly answering the questions. Ff maybe I could try to find other strategies.

Shake out

 Walt: Drop cover hold

Today At 9:10 me and my class learned about what to do if a earthquake occurs. First of all miss peters red a sheet of information about what to do if an earthquake did happen. e.g 

.Drop down on your hands and knees. This stops you from falling over but move if necessary.

.Cover Your neck and head under a sturdy table or a desk ( if it is within a few steps of you). If there is no shelter nearby, then cover your head and neck with your arms.

.Hold onto your table or desk ( or your position to protect your head and neck) Until You are sure the earthquake stops. If your sturdy table or desk starts shifting around in the earthquake shift with it to keep safe.

Then we actually started to practice the lockdown we had 2 practices than at 9:30 the whole school had a practice together for a minute then we went on to the field and the teachers did the roles then we went back to class.
